Motebong Village is also working with the community of Katse who have acquired a boat for excursions on the dam. These vary from 45-minute Sundowner cruises, to 3 – 4 hour trips to Katse Dam (40 kilometres), with stops at the Malibamatso Bridge and the Matsoku Intake tunnel, and the two islands with their abundant birdlife and indigenous flora.

These longer cruises can also be planned to coincide with Katse Dam
tours undertaken by LHDA staff at Katse Village. Hot and cold
refreshments will be served on these cruises. For bookings please
contact the reception at Motebong Village. Please note that these cruises are dependent on
the number of people requesting same cruise as the boat seats 25 people.

Guests are also encouraged to bring their own boats for use on the Katse Dam.
The necessary precautions must be taken, bearing in mind the depth of
the dam, the tree remains that are not visible under the water and the
nearby Katse Fish farm.
Those using their own craft must ensure that they are appropriately
licensed and understand all boating rules. The Lesotho Highlands Boating
regulations for Katse Dam can be viewed at reception.
