HISTORY OF MOTEBONG VILLAGE |
|
Motebong village was originally built to serve as accommodation for the engineering staff engaged on the Lesotho Highlands Water Project’s Katse Dam construction. With the project complete, the village was then let out briefly to one of Lesotho’s Diamond mining companies. It was then leased for Tourism accommodation purposes, by the Government of Lesotho (Ministry of Tourism, Environment & Culture) to Motebong Tourism Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd.

The management and staff of Motebong Village have been carefully selected to ensure the most professional service for its visitors. The Lodge manager is responsible for the running of the entire lodge and is based at Motebong Village on a permanent basis. He is assisted by a small team which ensures that guests are comfortable at the Village, and that all their needs are met. The majority of the staff has been sourced from the village of Ha Lejone, to ensure that there is additional economic benefit for that community from Motebong Village's being based there.
