Cooked In Africa

June 3rd – 7th, 2010

Motebong Village recently hosted the team from “Cooked in Africa”, headed up by the World-renown Justin Bonello. With their motto, “The Search For Good Food”, the “Cooked” crew came to Ha Lejone to see the production of Trout Fish at the Katse Fish Farm, see (www.royalehighlandstrout.com) and to learn how the Basotho in the area both catch and cook the trout.

The visit by the "Cooked" crowd which numbered about 12 individuals, all part of the Film crew, was sponsored by Woolworths Foods in South Africa, and by Landrover South Africa.

It was not all work as the crowd also enjoyed a sunset cruise on the dam, enjoying the beautiful sights of the valley, and sounds of the cows and donkeys on their way home after a day in the pastures that surround Motebong Village.

Whilst some took boating lessons, others continued with their filming on the tranquil waters that are the Katse Dam.

Through this visit, our Chef, Steve Khame was also able to acquire new skills on preparation of Trout, and visitors are welcome to come and join us for this wonderful delicacy from the Lesotho Highlands. Of course one can catch one’s own Trout in the dam and prepare it oneself, or alternatively join us in our newly-established Restaurant. Such a delight cannot be found anywhere else in Lesotho.
